111 저널기사 Structure-Initiator Activity Dependence of Aminimides as Thermally Latent Initiators in the Polymerization of Glycidyl Phenyl Ether - Novel aminimides were synthesized from the corresponding carboxylic acid esters, 1,1-dimethylhydrazine, and epoxides in 54-95% yields. Bulk polymerization of glycidyl phenyl ether (GPE) with 3 mol % of the aminimides was evaluated by DSC as a model process. All the DSC curves showed no exothermic peaks below 120 (degree)C but showed sharp exothermic peaks above 137 (degree)C, which indicated the good thermal latency of the aminimides. Good relationships were observed between the calculated bond length from the carbonyl carbon to the a-carbon of the aliphatic group (R--C), DSC onset temperatures, and the thermal dissociation temperatures (Td) of the aminimides. 114 저널기사 Monochromatic-Red-Light Emission of Novel Copolymers Containing Carbazole Units and Europium-Acrylate Complexes - Nearly monochromatic-red-light-emitting polymers with pendant carbazole and europium (Eu) complex were synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared, elemental analysis (EA), 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV, and gel permeation chromatography. The photoluminescence and electroluminescence (EL) properties of these polymers were investigated. A single-layer light-emitting-diode device of the structure (indium tin oxide/polymer P4/Al) was fabricated, showing 520 the characteristic bright-red EL of the Eu3+ complex at 614 nm at a turn-on voltage of about 17 V. 115 저널기사 Solvent Removal During Curing Process of Highly Spheric and Monodispersed-Sized Polystyrene Capsules from Density-Matched Emulsions Composed of Water and Benzene/1,2-Dichloroethane - For the curing process of highly spheric monodispersed 4-mm-in-diameter polystyrene capsules with uniform thickness from W/O/W emulsions, the masses of the solvents were measured for the oil phases and the distillate and calculated for the water phase. The analysis of the solvents in the water phase indicated that the process was governed by the kinetics of their dissolving from the oil phase to the outer water phase rather than by the vapor pressure of the solvents in the early stage before the oil phase lost its fluidity. 116 저널기사 Reaction of p-Toluenesulfonyl Isocyanate with Polymers Having Amide Moieties and Hydrolysis of the Obtained Polymers - The chemical modification of polymers having amide moieties was carried out with p-toluensulfonyl isocyanate. The resulting polymers revealed high hydrolytic character. For example, poly(acrylamide) was refluxed with an excess amount of p-toluenesulfonyl isocyanate in THF for 50 h to obtain a structurally modified polymer in 76% yield, whose sulfonylurea functionality was 100%. The spectra of emitted light were recorded and temperature dependences of radioluminescence intensities at chosen wavelengths were examined using a wavelength selected radiothermoluminescence technique.
