Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Musculoskeletal Soft Tissue Masses - The evaluation of soft tissue masses for treatment planning requires imaging and tissue sampling. MR imaging has become an established diagnostic tool in the anatomic staging of soft tissue masses, particularly with large or deep infiltrative lesions. MR imaging also may assist in the characterization of some lesions, particularly some of the benign soft tissue tumors, and in these instances, it may obviate further imaging or tissue sampling. With patients in whom MR imaging cannot predict a specific histologic diagnosis, tissue sampling remains the basis for determining a definitive diagnosis./
