Results of a Clinical Trial of Clinafloxacin Versus Imipenem/Cilastatin For lntra-Abdominal Infections - This is the report of a clinical trial comparing clinafloxacin, a new, broad spectrum quinolone, with imipenem/cilastatin for the treatment of complicated intra-abdominal infections. The study clearly demonstrates the safety and efficacy of clinafloxacin in the treatment of a range of intra-abdominal infections, and in a broad range of physiologic disturbance. Sterilization of the site of initial infection was noted by the absence of organisms in most of the treatment failures encountered, an effect observed in other trials of quinolones./
