Relationship Between Excision Volume, Margin Status, and Tumor Size With the Development of Local Recurrence in Patients With Ductal Carcinoma-In-Situ Treated With Breast-Conserving Therapy - The interrelationship between excision volume, margin status, and tumor size with local recurrence was examined in 146 patients with DCIS treated with breast-conserving therapy. Multivariate analysis revealed that patient age, margin status, the number of slides containing DCIS, and the number of DCIS/cancerization of labules foci within 5 mm of the margin, and an excision volume < 60 cm3 were all independently associated with local recurrence risk./
