Sonographic Assessment of Posthemorrhagic Ventricular Dilation - Dilation of the ventricular system is a common complication of intraventricular hemorrhage in the premature newborn. Sonography plays an important role in identifying the presence and severity of ventricular dilation and in monitoring the effectiveness of the various therapies currently used in its treatment. This article reviews the pathophysiology of posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus techniques developed to improve visualization of the cerebrospinal fluid pathways and to monitor intracranial compliance in infants with ventricular enlargement./
