Political Inscription, Artistic Reflection: A Recontextualization of Contemporary Viennese-Jewish Literature - The essay undertakes a historical and cultural recontextualization of present-day Vienna's Jewish literary scene in order to supplement the critical literature on the phenomenon. In so doing, it attempts to locate contemporary Austrian-Jewish literary formations in the larger frames underwriting their emergence, post-war Austria's modes of Vergangenheitsbew�ltigung, the Waldheim affair, and the new Jewish visibility foremost among them. Mobilizing literary texts in the interest of larger historical arguments, the essay suggests in conclusion that contemporary Viennese-Jewish literature marks a transition from modernity to postmodernity in Austrian-Jewish existence./
