Business Engineering: Is Process the Key? - Business engineering is increasingly a focus of interest within the object technology community as the benefits of combining the object paradigm with business process modeling become apparent. Approaches that incorporate business engineering often focus heavily on models and outputs and less on the process associated with developing them, or how this process is associated with systems development or other organizational processes. The increasing interest and variety of environments in which a type of business engineering activity might be needed, highlight the importance of defining the scope and goals of a business engineering project. The authors examine several different aspects of business engineering, define what it means within OPEN, and show why process support is needed in this area./
