Biomechanics - The Influence of Psychosocial Stress, Gender, and Personality on Mechanical Loading of the Lumbar Spine - In a laboratory setting, the effect of psychosocial stress on individuals was evaluated during lifting. Results indicated that stress increases muscle coactivity, alters kinematics, and increases spinal load, indicating a pathway to injury for psychosocial stress. Individual factors (personality and gender) also appear to greatly impact one's response to the stress./
