Case Study - Aneurysmal Bone Cyst of the Mobile Spine: Report on 41 Cases - Aneurysmal bone cyst arises in the mobile spine in approximately 10-30% of cases. Curettage, radiotherapy, and selective arterial embolization have been used successfully, both alone or in combination. Local recurrences, however, have been described after any type of treatment excluding en bloc excision. The clinical course is unpredictable, but healing of the lesions is nearly always achieved, regardless the type of treatment. The choice of treatment of spine aneurysmal bone cysts must consider the risk of neurologic and vascular lesions, and it must preserve spine stability and, if possible, spine mobility. The low cost-to-benefit ratio of selective arterial embolization as first treatment option is discussed./
