LABORATORY INVESTIGATIONS - Different Inhibitory Effects of Volatile Anesthetics on T- and L-type Voltage-dependent Ca2+ Channels in Porcine Tracheal and Bronchial Smooth Muscles - T-type voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels exist in bronchial, but not tracheal, smooth muscles, and the inward currents through the channels were more sensitive to the volatile anesthetics isoflurane and sevoflurane than those through L-type channels. The presence of T-type voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels may partly explain the different effects of volatile anesthetics on tracheal and bronchial smooth muscle tones./
