Surgery - Early-Phase Enhanced Inflammatory Reaction After Spinal Instrumentation Surgery - Inflammatory parameters (C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), white blood cell (WBC) count, and body temperature (BTI)) were significantly higher after spinal instrumentation surgery than after spinal surgery without instrumentation. Multiple regression analysis demonstrated that CRP and ESR peaks significantly correlated with the use of instrumentation. Renewed elevation of CRP, WBC, and BT after postoperative days 4 to 7 might be a critical sign of postoperative infection./
