Biomechanics - Impact Response of the Intervertebral Disc in a Finite-Element Model - A three-dimensional nonlinear poroelastic finite element model of the L3 vertebral body and intervertebral disc was developed to simulate the effect of impact duration or loading rate under vertical impact load. On the basis of increases in parameters such as cancellous core pressure, endplate stresses, and dynamic stiffness under different impact duration, shorter impact duration increases the possibility of fracture in the spinal segment./
