SCIENTIFIC PAPERS - Histopathologic Validation of Lymph Node Staging With FDG-PET Scan in Cancer of the Esophagus and Gastroesophageal Junction: A Prospective Study Based on Primary Surgery With Extensive Lymphadenectomy - This prospective study assessed the value of positron emission tomography with 18fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) in lymph node staging of cancer of the esophagus and the gastroesophageal junction. FDG-PET was more specific for distant lymph node metastases compared to combined computed tomography and endoscopic ultrasound, yielding a higher diagnostic accuracy (86% vs. 62%)./
