SCIENTIFIC PAPERS - Rates of Complications and Death After Pancreaticoduodenectomy: Risk Factors and the Impact of Hospital Volume - Mortality and morbidity from pancreaticoduodenectomy have decreased to 0.7% and 41% in consecutive patients (n = 300) at the Amsterdam Medical Center in two decades. Registry data in The Netherlands (n = 1,126) show that mortality in low-volume hospitals is 16.2% versus 0.9% in high-volume hospitals. Pancreaticoduodenectomy should be performed in centers with sufficient experience./
