Impairment of Mucosal Immunity by Parenteral Nutrition: Depressed Nasotracheal Influenza-Specific Secretory IgA Levels and Transport in Parenterally Fed Mice - Parenteral nutrition significantly reduced airway levels of IgA in immunized animals and significantly impaired mucosal transport of IgA after production. Exogenous administration of IgA returned mucosal protection to normal, demonstrating that although mucosal transport of specific IgA is impaired, residual transport capability provides protection if adequate IgA is present./
