SCIENTIFIC PAPERS - Interferon Regulatory Factor Expression in Human Breast Cancer - Interferon regulatory factors 1 and 2 are nuclear transcription factors that mediate interferon gamma signals. Their expression in archival human breast cancer specimens (DCIS and invasive, as well as normal adjacent tissue) is described for the first time, and this expression is correlated with tumor differentiation and nodal status. IRF expression does differ between normal tissue and neoplastic tissue, and this difference may represent a predictable interruption of the interferon gamma signal transduction pathway./
