Impact of Core-Needle Breast Biopsy on the Surgical Management of Mammographic Abnormalities - Image-guided core-needle biopsy (CNBx) is a less invasive alternative to surgical needle localization biopsy (SNLBx) for the diagnosis of nonpalpable mammographic abnormalities. CNBx spares most patients with benign lesions from unnecessary surgery. Preoperative diagnosis of malignant breast lesions by CNBx facilitates wider margins of excision, fewer positive margins, and fewer overall surgical procedures than SNLBx./
