Gynecologic Ultrasound - Vaginal ultrasound continues to be the imaging modality of choice for evaluating the uterus and adnexa. If a mass is localized to the ovary, its grayscale appearance can often determine if it has benign characteristics. In selected cases, Doppler may also be used to provide additional information regarding benign versus malignant disease. Sonographic evaluation of the endometrium may require sonohysterography to determine if a lesion is diffuse or focal in nature. This important distinction often affects clinical management. Myometrical abnormalities are usually because of fibroids and adenomyosis. Although these two entities share some sonographic features, they often may be differentiated from one another based on other characteristic features./
