Imaging of Musculoskeletal Infections - Musculoskeletal infections occur commonly in children and may involve the bones, joints, supporting soft tissues, and muscle. History and physical examination guide the initial evaluation, which often includes laboratory studies and conventional radiographs. Additional imaging studies are often performed to better define, detect, or diagnose the abnormality, assist with surgical planning, and assess treatment response.
