저널기사 Radical Ring-Opening Copolymerization Behavior of Vinyloxirane: Synthesis of Copolymer from 2-Isopropenyl-3-phenyloxirane and Styrene and Its Functionalization - Published online 28 August 2000 - The radical ring-opening copolymerization of 2-isopropenyl-3-phenyloxirane (1) with styrene (St) was examined under various conditions. Copolymers of 1 and St (copoly(1-St)) were obtained in moderate yields by copolymerization in various feed ratios of 1 and St over 120 (degree)C. The haloalkoxylation of copoly(1-St) with ethylene glycol in the presence of N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) produced a new functional copolymer (4)./ 미리보기

저널기사 Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Copolymers Containing Nitroterephthalic Units. I. Synthesis and Characterization - Published online 30 August 2000 - Novel poly(ethylene terephthalate) copolyesters containing nitroterephthalic units were synthesized by transesterification followed by melt copolycondensation of dimethyl terephthalate and dimethyl nitroterephthalate mixtures with ethylene glycol. Weight-average molecular weights of the polymers ranged from 10,000 to 60,000. The copolymer composition was very close to that of the feed, and we concluded that the copolyesters were statistically random. Both the melting temperature and enthalpy of the copolymers decreased with increasing amounts of nitroterephthalic units. The glass-transition temperature of the copolymers was between those of the parent homopolymers poly(ethylene terephthalate) (80 (degree)C) and poly(ethylene nitroterephthalate) (88 (degree)C). The copolyesters were thermally stable up to 300 (degree)C./ 미리보기

저널기사 Dispersion Polymerization of 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide - Published online 30 August 2000 - Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) could be effectively emulsified in supercritical carbon dioxide using a diblock copolymer surfactant consisting of polystyrene and poly(1,1-dihydroperfluorooctyl acrylate) and the successful stabilization of the polymerization simultaneously gave spherical particles in submicron range./ 미리보기

저널기사 Polytetrahydrofuran Amphiphilic Networks. I. Synthesis and Characterization of Polytetrahydrofuran Acrylate Ditelechelic and Polyacrylamide-l-Polytetrahydrofuran Networks - Published online 1 September 2000 - A series of novel amphiphilic polyacrylamide-l-polytetrahydrofuran (PAm-l-PTHF) networks were prepared by the free-radical copolymerization of hydrophobic ditelechelic polytetrahydrofuran acrylate (PTHFDA) with hydrophilic acrylamide. The networks can swell both in organic solvents and in water. The swelling of the networks in different solvents is composition-dependent./ 미리보기

저널기사 Reactive Poly(Glycidyl Methacrylate) Microspheres Prepared by Dispersion Polymerization - Published online 8 September 2000 Poly(glycidyl methacrylate) microspheres, 0.5-4 mm in diameter and of narrow size distribution, were prepared by the dispersion radical polymerization in an alcoholic medium. The reactive epoxide functional groups were observed to be stable to the polymerization conditions leading to reactive microspheres./ 미리보기

저널기사 Synthesis and Properties of New Halogen-Substituted Polyamides from 5-Halo-m-phenylenediamines and Both Aliphatic and Aromatic Dicarboxylic Acids - Published online 13 September 2000 New halogen-substituted aromatic-aliphatic and wholly aromatic polyamides were synthesized by the direct polycondensation of and 5-halo-m-phenylenediamines, where the halogens were Cl, Br, and I, with both aliphatic and aromatic dicarboxylic acids. The properties of the halogen-substituted polyamides, including the solubility, glass-transition temperature, 10% weight-loss temperature, and limiting oxygen index are discussed with respect to halogen-substituent species./ 미리보기

저널기사 Chemoselective Synthesis of Polyamides Containing Hydroxyl and Amino Substituents by Direct Polycondensation - Published online 8 September 2000 A convenient method for synthesizing polyamides containing hydroxyl and amino substituents on the aromatic rings of the backbones was developed. The direct polycondensation of 5-hydroxy or 5-aminoisophthalic acid with 4,4'-diamino-4"-hydroxytriphenylmethane proceeded smoothly under mild conditions and produced the desired polyamides with inherent viscosities up to 0.73 dL g-1./ 미리보기
