Vortex states and quantum magnetic oscillations in conventional type-II superconductors - The interplay of quantum magnetic effects and superconductivity has fascinated physicists for decades. The experimental discovery of de Haas-van Alphen oscillations in superconductors has stimulated new efforts to understand the vortex state of type-II superconductors in intense magnetic fields. Recent theoretical developments are the subject of this review./

W boson physics at hadron colliders - The W boson is an important ingredient of the standard model of electroweak interactions. Since the W boson was discovered in 1983 at the CERN SppS collider, its properties have been precisely measured at hadron colliders and have provided means to test the standard model. This article presents a comprehensive review of W boson physics at the Fermilab Tevatron collider and discusses future prospects at the upgraded Tevatron and at the CERN LHC./
