8 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Anabolic Effects of Oxandrolone After Severe Burn - The authors used stable isotopic methodology to quantitate skeletal muscle protein catabolism in the leg after severe burn. Seven subjects received oxandrolone, an oral testosterone analogue, and seven served as time controls. Oxandrolone subjects demonstrated improved net muscle protein synthesis./ 미리보기

9 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Blocking Pulmonary ICAM-1 Expression Ameliorates Lung Injury in Established Diet-Induced Pancreatitis - The overwhelming inflammatory reaction in the pancreas during acute pancreatitis can result in distant injury in the lung through upregulation of pulmonary ICAM-1 molecules. Inhibiting the ICAM-1 molecules on pulmonary endothelia late in the progression of acute pancreatitis reduces lung injury without reducing pancreatic inflammation./ 미리보기
Lundberg, Andrew H J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
10 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Budd-Chiari Syndrome: Current Management Options - Fifty-four patients diagnosed with the Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) over a 20-year period at a single institution were studied. The efficacy of primary surgical and nonsurgical treatment strategies for these patients was quantified. Both mesenteric-systemic shunting and liver transplantation resulted in 5-year survival of at least 75%, and nonsurgical treatment modalities were successful in highly selected patients./ 미리보기

11 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Central and Peripheral Adverse Hemodynamic Changes During Laparoscopic Surgery and Their Reversal with a Novel Intermittent Sequential Pneumatic Compression Device - This study explores the influence of a novel intermittent sequential pneumatic compression device (Lympha-press) on the adverse hemodynamic changes induced by positive pressure pneumoperitoneum (PPPn) during laparoscopic surgery. PPPn of 12mmHg and head up tilt reduced the peak systolic velocity of the femoral vein by 33%, the cardiac output by 20%, and the stroke volume by 18%. Activation of Lympha-press during PPPn and head up tilt reversed these changes./ 미리보기

12 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Clinicopathologic Association of Cyclooxygenase 1 and Cyclooxygenase 2 Expression in Gastric Adenocarcinoma - This study evaluates the association of clinicopathologic factors and survival with expression of cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 in gastric patients. Seventy-one patients with gastric cancer were divided into immunohistostain-positive and negative groups. COX-2 expression of gastric cancer is intimately associated with Helicobacter pylori infection and cancer vascular invasion. COX-1 expression is not related with any clinicopathologic factor or survival./ 미리보기
Chen, Ciung-Nien J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
13 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Comparison of reg I and reg III Levels During Acute Pancreatitis in the Rat - The authors studied alterations of serum levels of the pancreatic reg family of proteins in two models of acute pancreatitis. After induction of pancreatitis, serum levels of reg I and III protein differ significantly. Reg III/PAP levels are a sensitive marker of pancreatic injury, and early in the disease may be a useful prognostic indicator for disease severity./ 미리보기

14 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Denervated Stomach as an Esophageal Substitute Recovers Intraluminal Acidity With Time - Twenty-four hour gastric pH-monitoring in 91 patients 1 to 195 months after subtotal esophagectomy, truncal vagotomy, and gastric pull-up indicates that 32.3% of patients retain a normal gastric pH-profile just after the operation. Those with early intraluminal hypoacidity recover a normal intraluminal pH profile over the years with subsequent development of disabling cervical heartburn (35.7% 3 years) and esophagitis (38.5% 3 years)./ 미리보기
Gutschow, Christian J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
15 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial of Fluconazole to Prevent Candidal Infections in Critically Ill Surgical Patients - This single institution, double-blind placebo-controlled trial of enteral fluconazole versus placebo demonstrates a two-to-three fold reduction in fungal infection in high-risk critically ill surgical patients. Enteral fluconazole prophylaxis should be considered in all high-risk patients./ 미리보기
Pelz, Robert K J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
16 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Effect of Preoperative Biliary Decompression on Pancreaticoduodenectomy-Associated Morbidity in 300 Consecutive Patients - Preoperative biliary decompression by endobiliary stent, percutaneous transhepatic catheter, or surgical biliary bypass does not increase the risk for major complications or mortality associated with pancreaticoduodenectomy. However, wound infections are more common in patients treated with preoperative biliary drainage./ 미리보기
Pisters, Peter W T J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
17 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Effect of Prolonged Selective Intramesenteric Arterial Vasodilator Therapy on Intestinal Viability After Acute Segmental Mesenteric Vascular Occlusion - Intramesenteric arterial vasodilator infusion has been advocated to increase collateral blood flow for mesenteric vascular occlusion, despite physiologic experiments indicating vasodilators reduced collateral blood flow by preferentially dilating adjacent, nonischemic vasculature. Here selective intramesenteric infusion of vasodilators significantly reduced intestinal viability in a clinical model of segmental mesenteric artery occlusion./ 미리보기
Meilahn, John E J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
18 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Energy Metabolism of Infants and Children with Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and Sepsis - Infants and children with systemic inflammatory response syndrome or sepsis are not hypermetabolic. Their resting metabolism is based on both carbohydrate and fat utilization. In these patients energy for growth may be diverted into recovery processes./ 미리보기
Turi, Rosa A J. B. Lippincott [etc.] 2001
19 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Estradiol Administration After Trauma-Hemorrhage Improves Cardiovascular and Hepatocellular Functions in Male Animals - The authors investigated the effects of administration of female sex steroids on cardiovascular and hepatocellular functions of male animals after trauma-hemorrhage. Results indicate that administration of estradiol after trauma-hemorrhage appears to be a useful adjunct for normalizing depressed cellular and organ functions after trauma-hemorrhage in male rats./ 미리보기

20 저널기사 ORIGINAL ARTICLES - Expression of Adrenocorticotropin Receptor Gene in Adrenocortical Adenomas From Patients With Cushing Syndrome: Possible Contribution for the Autonomous Production of Cortisol - Endogenous ACTH secretion is suppressed in patients with Cushing's syndrome due to adrenocortical adenoma. Likewise, expression of ACTH-R mRNA was suppressed in the normal gland attached to the adenoma, but not in the adenoma itself. This result indicates a possible role of ACTH-R in the autonomous production of cortisol from the adenoma./ 미리보기
