The Orthopedists' Perspective: Bone Tumors, Scoliosis, and Trauma - Orthopedic surgeons use radiographic techniques extensively in their management of children with musculoskeletal disorders. Within pediatric orthopedics, the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal tumors, for example, use the full extent of radiologic methods. In the evaluation and treatment of scoliosis, advanced imaging is used sparingly. The changes seen on plain radiographs over time are central to making treatment decisions. Evaluation of pediatric musculoskeletal trauma patients relies predominantly on plain radiography although advanced imaging is valuable in complex injuries and other organ systems./
