Cochrane Paper - Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs for Low Back Pain: A Systematic Review Within the Framework of the Cochrane Collaboration Back Review Group - Because nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are effective for acute low back pain, they are the most frequently prescribed medications for this condition worldwide. This study found that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are effective for short-term symptomatic relief in patients with low back pain. The findings also showed that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are not more effective than other drugs (paracetamol, narcotic analgesics, and muscle relaxants). However, the quality of these studies was poor, so the findings are not conclusive. The evidence on chronic low back pain was conflicting./
